A few days ago we wrote an email to Rachele Cateyes, one of the main inspirations of our cause and for our surprise she replied us! Not only as a form of gratitude but because we admire her attitude towards body shaming we decided to dedicate this blog post to her and her revolutionary work. From Portland, Oregon; Rachel is more than just a curvy girl. She's a positive and pro-intersectional feminist, vegan and artist. Her illustrations depict curvy ladies in crop tops with positive messages encouraging body acceptance. Her involvement in "fat activism", as she calls it, started back in the mid 2000's as the Nearsighted Owl. Rachele started her drawings colorless and just focusing on the girls' outfits; however, someone mentioned coloring books to her so she brought her digital drawings to real life with coloring book zines and printable coloring book pages.
"I want bellies and superset bodies to be normalized. I want to see something other than a perfect hourglass shape and flat stomach as the only portrayal of plus size women available", Rachele says. For more info, follow her on social networks! Tumblr
